CUSTOM QUILTS
I am available to make you a custom QUILT.
When I make a custom QUILT, it usually involves a chat with you, and a mention of a few colors and a size.
No more information needs to be given. My approach to quilting is the same way as if I were to draw a picture, I have an idea, and I let the idea take it's course to become whatever it needs to be... You, of course, are part of the inspiration, and you will become a part of the QUILT...
Usually there is no set course, I rarely have a complete thought for a quilt when I start. I let the fabrics speak to me, and I play as I go to find the right composition to complete the task.
For these two QUILTS, the only information I was given was they wanted ALL RED, and scrappy. These were two QUILTS I worked side by side that are similar but not identical. Every red scrap I had went into these QUILTS...
If I purchase fabric for your QUILT, I try to use ALL OF IT. It can add to the design in a way I might not have thought about before... You can't plan to use a 2" triangle scrap, until you have it in you hands and you find just the right fit for it in the QUILT...rather like a puzzle.
CLOUD 2011 (in progress)
This QUILT was made for a baby boy, yet to join us in thsi world! The inspiration from the client was it needed to feel like a "cloud." This picture shows the quilt still in progress...
This was a QUILT that needed to supply warmth to a office space. It was at the time of the last election, and you can see I was heavily influenced by the red and blue states... It was quilted with sayings from the election, and is a favorite of mine, as far as free piecing goes... It resembles many of my early paintings... Focusing on color blocks and composition...
Each QUILT I make is it's own journey.
I never quite know where a QUILT will take me, but I find the process of letting it flow brings out a complete thought all on its own.
